Welcome back to Grit & Glory. In Part 2: The Birth of the Album TTT], we went inside the rehearsal studio to capture our massive 9-piece sound and the steep learning curve of recording an Irish-influenced country album in Brisbane. But as any musician will tell you, an album is just a beginning. The real test is when the lights go down and the live music start to play.
The Big Debut: Recreating the Country Music Dance Hall in Brisbane
After months of rehearsals, it was time to take the Tap Those Toes (TTT) album to the stage. We weren’t just a recording project, we were a 9-piece Brisbane dance band with a mission, to recreate the high-octane spirit of a country music dance hall.
We booked our first live event at The Old Museum in Spring Hill. It was more than a concert, for us it was a musical experiment. Would a Brisbane audience recognise the Jive? Would they feel the Waltz?
The Highs: Chart Success and that “Wall of Sound”
Just before we hit the stage at The Old Museum, we received excellent news. Three tracks from the album had broken into the regional charts, and one single climbed to No. 39 on the Australian National Country Music charts.
This momentum carried us onto the stage. There is nothing like the "click" moment—seeing the fiddle and accordion intertwine while 170 guests filled the room made every logistical headache worth it. That "wall of sound" we engineered in the studio finally had a home—it was loud, proud, and perfectly Brisbane.
The Raw Reality: The $55,000 Gamble
As an independent band, the "Glory" of the charts comes with a heavy price tag. By the end of The Old Museum show, our investment in the "Big Sound" had reached approximately $55,000.
The money isn't just in one area of a performing band construction, it's the relentless cost of marketing. In this industry, everyone wants a piece of your budget, yet getting a live audience to show up remains the steepest uphill battle.
While 170 guests is a triumph for a debut, the financial return for a 9-piece production of this scale is non existent.
We are excited to continue this journey with you. If you want to keep up with our latest tracks and stories, you can find us on Spotify and Facebook, links below, or right here on our official website.

The Next Chapter: Why We Do It All Again
People often ask: "If the costs are so high and the financial return is non-existent, why keep going?"
The answer lies in the music that hasn’t been played yet. The "Grit" of the first $55,000 journey hasn't discouraged us, it has sharpened our focus. We’ve seen the "Glory" on the national charts and felt the energy of an audience at The Old Museum. That momentum is exactly what is fueling our next ambitious project.
We have completed and released our next album: Nothing to See Here (NTSH).
We’re taking every lesson learned, every marketing hurdle and every hard-earned "click" moment, and doubling down on the Big Sound. Because for The Blue Shamrocks, the journey doesn't end when the budget runs dry, it ends when the last person leaves the stage until the next time.
Stay tuned for Blog Post 4, where we dive into the creative spark behind NTSH and how we plan to turn the lessons of the past into the music of the future. ☘️✨
